DAY 2! Sisterhood of the Traveling Pant Suits! Day two of the convention and we are working it out! The hours are long, but everything is fascinating! We had about 3 hours of sleep, convention work is hard! But there is no time for sleep when history is being unfolded right before your eyes! Today, Hillary Clinton addressed the Democratic National Convention on the eve of the 88th Anniversary that marks the end of Women’s Suffrage – a movement that allowed women the right to vote. Many of us have abuelitas and family members who are older than 88 years old, can you imagine a time when women were not equal or considered smart enough to vote? Supporters of Hillary Clinton have expressed the desire to see a woman president. Her speech was powerful, she fully addressed the need for her supporters to vote for Barack Obama because the Democratic Party needs to unite to win over Republican John McCain. Using some humor, Senator Clinton even called out for the unity of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Suits! Her wardrobe and all her pant suits have made headline news! However, getting on the floor of the convention, proved difficult, Secret Service shut down all the doors, there was so much press, so many people, the fire marshal almost shut the whole thing down, and in the midst of all the chaos, we were not let inside, we had to stay in the halls and watch the speech from the monitors. Through all this drama, I ran into Ana, a beautiful little girl, who must have been around 12 years old. She was with CBS and the Children’s Press Club. Running into her, gave me a much needed reminder on the impact Hillary Clinton has made during her historic campaign, and the 18 million cracks she has made on the glass ceiling. GO HILLARY!
