Black Panther: The Revolutionary Art of Emory Douglas is a powerful informative exhibition that helped define the visuals for the Panther Party movement. Emory Douglas’s graphic art & striking images spoke forcefully to a community ravaged by poverty, police brutality, and poor living conditions. His trademark style covered the group’s newspapers, posters, and pamphlets with his bold straight to the point imagery. Organized by MOCA Ahmanson Curatorial Fellow Sam Durant, the exhibition includes approximately 150 of Douglas's most influential works, which serve as a testament to the efficacy of visual art to communicate a political position. Don’t miss the opening reception this Saturday night, as the exhibition continues on through January. FIST TO THE SKY!
