Welcome to the world of Funkadelic sounds where expression has no boundaries in the creative mind of Andre 3000. This week as my Fresh Dressed Artist of the Week I’m highlighting one half of the Hip Hop duo Outkast, Andre Benjamin AKA: Andre 3000.
Andre 3000 is a leader in artistic freedom when it comes to dealing with stylists and artist branding. Paving the way for all artists who dare to be expressive and reflect their music & personality in what they wear. Outkast continues to progress and introduce new trends to the world of music in each album. After Southerplayalisticadilacmuzic, Andre transformed into this creative genius of dress and released any feelings of doubt and embarrassment. The Funk Pioneer George Clinton mentored a young Andre 2000 and encouraged no limits of self expression. Along with George, Jimi Hendrix plays a key role in Andre’s funkadelic flavor. Andre has worn anything from White wigs, Football pads & marching band uniforms, white pearls & pink socks, Miss Jackson’s dress, to the now 50’s era style. Andre has developed into a more mature style reflecting the music of 50’s & 60’s with suit vests and bow ties. Andre is a true innovator in creating sounds and trends that will be remembered as a pivotal point in music history.
"Return of the gangsta thanks ta' them niggas that get the wrong impression of expression Then the question is Big Boi what's up with Andre? Is he in a cult? Is he on drugs? Is he gay? When y'all gon' break up? When y'all gon' wake up? Nigga I'm feelin' better than ever what's wrong with you you get down!"
Tune in next week for my next Fresh Dressed Artist of the Week!
