Just when Dori was starting to feel lonely that it would be her and Grammy for Christmas, a loud knock rattled the shabby little house. "Get the door! I'm with the menudo," Grammy hollered from the kitchen while Vicente Fernandez sang Perdon with his son, Alejandro on the stereo. Dori wiped her hands on the front of her jeans as she walked by the Nativity figures huddled by the fireplace like old men in a back alley craps game. The lime green flocked tree blinked tipsily in the front window and multi-colored strands of lights hung from the walls. Expecting her brother, Robbie, Dori pulled up the sleeves of her dove gray sweater and then opened the door to two people making out under the porch light.
