People died in front of Lou’s Liquors. Drug-deals-gone-wrong, went very wrong. Blood stains on concrete turned maroon, turned burgundy turned black.  Over by the pay phone smelled like urine.  One Cent Photocopy signs shined through the front door.  The beer isle stayed slippery from leaky $1 ice bags .

Lou’s Liquor sold tissue and Thunderbird; ziz zags and pampers; candy necklaces and  Jack Daniels;  pencils and, porno magazines.  It was a building full of sin and necessities. 

Mothers with baby strollers walked passed crackheads for Infamil and cigarettes. 

Many bought lottery tickets.  A couple won big and never returned.
