RON PAUL :: PRINCIPLES ::

I am 29 years of age, and I realize things are not what they use to be. When I was 9 years old my Grandfather use to always have the television on to the news. Tom Brokaw or Dan Rathers was always on the TV. I would beg him to change the channel to something more suitable like "The Incredible Hulk" or "The A Team".
The year is 2008 and now I find myself constantly checking for updates on the primaries, a more updated version of my Grandfather. But I then reflect back to the day when elections were explained to me as a kid and it all sort of made sense right? People vote for whom they like and the person with the most votes gets to live in the White House and lead the nation.
And now, Im learning about the concept of principles. I guess in my early stage of my twenties principles are something you test and apply the whole "trial and error thing". And once your set in them you kinda get stoked when you see someone who shares those principles in the political arena.
Along comes Ron Paul, Republican nominee for the Republican ticket to the White House. I would never have thought that a Republican would share my same views. Iraq, IRS, spending, the importance of following the Constitution as the rule of law. These are all basic things that Government abuses and Ron Paul notes this. How can a man who believes in not relying on "big government" nor the "IRS" be in mainstream politics?
During the course of the Republican debates, my heart would go out to this man who shared his views to the Republican audiences, and he was as sincere as a neurotic Woody Allen character trying to score some booty. And i would cringe inside as his views were met with laughter and boos. And there it was! My views were met with boos and laughter. In repsonse to Mr. Ron Paul's comments that 911 was a "reaction" and not an "action", I heard Gulliani continue to talk about how Terrorists didnt like the fact that were free, Romney say that we need to hit Al Quida much more harder. And Ron Paul, who represented my views, was simply laughed at.
And it made me feel small. It made my views and perspective feel so small and of no importance. I guess this is politics. And despite the fact that Mr. Ron Paul comes in 4th and 5th place at the primaries, I think Mr. Ron Paul brings up good points and perspectives that need to be voiced at these debates. I have no answers nor insight in the Ron Paul campaign, however, i think its principle to continue to support your canidate who comes in at 4rth or 5 th place..
Cheers
